Doubling the Slice Viability
The Compresstome VF-200 is a semi-automatic slicer. the microtome is equipped with a motorized advance system and a vibrating blade feature. A physically separate control box connected to the microtome reduces the risk of electronic damage by spilling buffers. The advance speed and the vibration frequency are adjustable.
As shown in the figure of this page, the Compresstome VF-200 more than doubles the slice viability of an ordinary vibra-slicer. This is true even for large neuron such as the Purkinje neuron and dense fiber tissues such as the brain stem. The Compresstome VF-200 is a versatile slicer that can be used for several different experiments:
- Electrophysiology : The VF-200 produces best quality brain slices which outperforms existing high-end vibrating slicers at a cheaper price.
- Immunohistochemistry : The VF-200 can slice fixed tissues to slices as thin as 10 microns without the need for freezing.
